Makeup Tips for Dark Circles and Spots

Makeup Tips for Dark Circles and Spots

Normally, when someone tells you to "light up", no one will blame you for shooting offensive eyes to that person. However, if you're doing under-circle surfing that looks sleepy in a few days, you're probably getting sage advice. By choosing your makeup wisely and learning the best way to apply it, you can light out dark circles, spots, and pigmentations.

  • Challenge: Brighten the under circle, cover the dark spots and smooth out the pigmented skin. "If you get too discolored, you may want to layer the foundation layer, but it may look like a mask," says Sarah Glick, a makeup artist in New York City. "The most natural way so far is to lightly apply and hide the full coverage foundation, and your skin is still ugly."

Women in color are more likely to develop melasma (aka "pregnancy mask"), a disease that causes discoloration of the skin, especially on the forehead and cheeks. The shallow darkness of the eyes is exacerbated by sun damage or rubbing of delicate eye areas. In fact, any kind of irritation, such as cuts, abrasions, burns, itching, itching, etc. can cause your skin to produce extra melanin and leave traces.
